The Stager SR-66 Ribbon Microphone brings the unmistakable depth and musicality of a long ribbon microphone to a price point that makes world-class ribbon performance more accessible than ever.
Designed and built in Nashville, Tennessee, the SR-66 combines a traditional long-ribbon design with modern engineering to deliver an incredibly natural, balanced sound that excels on everything from guitar cabinets and drum overheads to vocals, acoustic instruments, and room recordings. If you're searching for a versatile passive ribbon microphone that captures every performance with warmth, realism, and stunning transient detail, the SR-66 is ready to become a favorite in your microphone locker. Built around a 3-inch corrugated aluminum ribbon, powerful neodymium magnet assembly, and Stager's proprietary 1:32 toroidal transformer, the SR-66 delivers the smooth top end ribbon microphones are known for while maintaining impressive clarity and articulation throughout the frequency spectrum. Its tight low end minimizes excessive proximity effect, allowing instruments and voices to retain their natural balance without becoming overly thick or muddy. The passive design requires no external power and faithfully reproduces every nuance of a performance with exceptional realism. Whether you're capturing detailed drum overheads, adding richness to electric guitar cabinets, recording intimate vocals, or preserving the natural character of acoustic instruments, the SR-66 offers the classic figure-8 ribbon response engineers love while remaining easy to position thanks to its lightweight construction. Precision machined in the USA and housed in a protective foam-lined wooden case, the SR-66 is built to provide years of dependable studio performance.

I bought a pair, STELLAR!
May 22nd 2025The sweet wood boxes are kind of a waste for these because they never come down off the stands! Great for drum overgeads. My favorite as a center kit mic snuck in between the ride and rack tom. Does everything a Royer can do on amps and acoustics. Recommend!

This mic does what great mics do.
Nov 11th 2024The SR-66 captures performances in a lifelike way. After recording, what comes back through my speakers is exactly what I felt and heard in the room. When I want similar results but with more ambient rejection, I reach for the Stager SR-5, which is a directional ribbon (the SR-66 is bi-directional). These microphones and their makers have my gratitude.

Doesn't get much better
May 11th 2023The newest Stager mic is stunning, doesn't get much richer or truer to life than this. Excellent on solo/fingerpicked acoustic guitar, captures the midrange in a way that few do. Electric guitar, vocals, percussion, of course. Highly recommended.
