The Crimson Audio Mogaine Lite Preamp takes everything we love about the standard Mogaine, and dials it back down from 11. This more moderate level boost gives you the open balanced and dynamic sound of the Mogaine, but better suited for loud sound sources, like drums!
The Crimson Audio Mogaine Lite Preamp has a slightly dialed back gain stage. The original Mogaine (and stereo Mogaines) provides 25dB of gain before your mic pre. This Mogaine Lite will give you about half of that. So you can expect around 12-13 dB of fixed gain from the Mogaine Lite. This allows you to gain stage like a condenser microphone, when using passive ribbon and dynamic mics. Further the impedance matching provides a more open and natural sound that will let your passive mics breath. However with all the gain the original Mogaine provides, this can be overpowering for louder sound sources like drums. So enter the Mogaine Lite. The more conservative gain staging ensures you will not overload your preamps, yet still allow you to gain stage with less gain at the preamp. The advantage? Cleaner, clearer, more open and natural sound without raising the noise floor.
