Combining active high and low shelving EQ, passive high- and low-cut filters, and Tube-Tech's unique T-filter, the HLT 2AM gives mastering engineers an intuitive way to reshape the overall tonal balance of a stereo mix while maintaining the repeatability and channel accuracy demanded by critical mastering work. Stepped gain controls, a refined ±7 dB shelving range, and extremely tight channel tracking make subtle, recallable adjustments easy without sacrificing the warm, open character of Tube-Tech's all-tube signal path. At the heart of the HLT 2AM is its passive T-filter, which operates like a tonal seesaw around a selectable center frequency. Turning the control in one direction increases the upper frequencies while reducing the lower frequencies, while turning it the opposite direction adds weight below the pivot while softening the upper range. Selectable 0.5, 1, and 2 kHz center frequencies make the T-filter especially useful for broad tonal balancing, allowing a mix to become warmer, brighter, fuller, or more forward without the narrow character of conventional corrective EQ. The mastering version refines the HLT concept with 23-step gain controls for the low shelf, high shelf, and T-filter, providing accurate recall and dependable left/right matching. The low and high shelving sections offer six selectable frequencies each, while passive 6 dB/octave low-cut and high-cut filters provide gentle control over the frequency extremes. Transformer-balanced, fully floating inputs and outputs, tube-based push-pull amplification, and an all-tube audio circuit outside of the power supply complete a mastering equalizer built for precise tonal shaping without losing the dimensional character that makes analog processing so rewarding.
