The Oktava MK-012 MSP6 gives you a stereo pair of the Oktava MK-012-01 microphones with Cardioid, HyperCardiod and Omni capsules, all in one convenient package! The Oktava MK-012-01 MSP6 is a factory matched pair of microphones that offer a natural smooth and musically balanced character with great off-axis rejection, ideal for your stereo overhead, acoustic guitar, and piano recordings. The small size of the microphones provide easy positioning, even in tight spaces. Designed to be modular, you can easily swap out the capsules and pads, making these mics a versatile powerhouse in the recording studio. The included -10 dB pads are ideal for high SPL environments, making the MSP6 perfect for stereo recording applications. Whatever you configuration may be, Front End Audio is here to help you build your Oktava microphone system.

The new packaging features a high-end color printed flip box with magnetic closure and a rigid foam insert. This new packaging is designed to bring cohesiveness to the brand and provide the most protection for Oktava microphones during transportation and storage.

    These are great mics! I got these about a month ago and I am loving their sound. They are amazing on acoustic guitars, great clear highs/mids and nice low end. I have also used these on vocals where they perform great. Indeed, they are also great drum overheads!

    I got this because of the great reviews it found on a bunch of forums. Definitely better then the rode and se electronics that were similar. Great frequency response and clear sound. Perfect for overhead and acoustic guitars, but can excel in almost anything. Front End is the only website I trust to give me the quality Russian made. Thanks!

The Oktava MK-012 MSP6 Microphone Set is one of those kits that just keeps paying you back the more time you spend in the studio. This is the full-blown MK-012 experience, and honestly, it’s hard to think of another small-diaphragm condenser package that covers this much ground so well. The MSP6 kit gives you two mic bodies, two -10 dB pads (perfect when we’re pushing them on drums or other loud sources), and three matched capsule pairs: cardioid, omnidirectional, and hyper-cardioid. That alone makes this set incredibly flexible. While tracking, we’ve used this kit for everything from single mono sources to full stereo setups—spaced pair, ORTF, X/Y—you name it. It’s all right there in the case. Where things get really fun is mixing capsules. While recording acoustic guitar, we’ve had great results using one hyper-cardioid aimed at the neck for focus and articulation, and one cardioid on the body for warmth and weight. You can run that as a stereo track for width and depth, or collapse it to mono and still have a ton of control when shaping the sound later. Mixing a cardioid or hyper-cardioid with an omni is another favorite trick for more open, dimensional recordings on stringed instruments. The MK-012 itself has been a go-to mic for us for close to 20 years, and there’s a reason it’s still around. The transient response makes it killer on drum overheads and room mics, the off-axis rejection on the cardioid and hyper-cardioid capsules is excellent, and the tunable proximity effect lets you dial in just the right amount of body. We’ve used these on acoustic guitars, mandolin, piano, drums, percussion, dialogue—you name it—and they just get the job done. If you’re looking for a serious workhorse SDC kit that can handle studio, location, music, and dialogue work without breaking a sweat, the Oktava MK-012 MSP6 is a classic for a reason. It’s versatile, reliable, and still one of the smartest mic investments you can make.
