Designed for professional studio and live applications, this single-channel tube direct box combines extremely high input impedance with generous headroom to preserve the natural character of acoustic guitars, electric guitars, basses, synthesizers, drum machines, and other electronic instruments. Built around a 12AX7A vacuum tube and Jensen output transformer, the VTDB-2B produces a clear, open direct signal with just the right amount of tube warmth. Its input impedance of more than 20 MΩ helps prevent pickup loading, making it especially effective with passive acoustic instrument pickups while retaining the brilliance, harmonics, and transient detail of electric instruments. A buffered 1/4-inch output allows the instrument signal to be routed to an amplifier, pedalboard, or effects chain with minimal signal loss. It can even drive an amplifier through cable runs of up to 50 feet while reducing the tonal dulling caused by cable loading. The balanced XLR output provides a dependable connection to microphone preamps, mixers, audio interfaces, and recording systems. The Demeter VTDB-2B is equally useful for warming up synthesizers, samplers, and drum machines or softening the brittle edge that can sometimes accompany digital recording.
