The Vanguard Audio Labs V1 gen2 Lolli Pencil Microphone Kit is a seriously versatile multi-capsule FET condenser system that gives you both small and large diaphragm options from a single microphone body.

With five custom-voiced interchangeable capsules and six available pickup patterns, the V1 gen2 Lolli can move from acoustic guitar and piano to percussion, strings, horns, vocals, and plenty more without missing a beat. Add Vanguard's premium transformer-balanced electronics, cryogenically treated components, and heavy-duty VSSM shockmount, and you have one microphone kit designed to cover an impressive amount of ground in the studio or out in the field. Four interchangeable 22mm small-diaphragm capsules provide cardioid, hypercardioid, omnidirectional, and wide-cardioid pickup patterns. Each uses a 16mm, 4µm gold-sputtered Mylar diaphragm positioned close to its custom-voiced backplate to help minimize comb filtering. These capsules make the V1 gen2 particularly useful for close- and medium-distance recording of acoustic instruments, percussion, piano, strings, orchestral sources, and other applications where the detail and transient response of a pencil condenser are right at home. Then there's the Lolli. Vanguard's V34C gen2 Lolli transforms the V1 gen2 with a removable 34mm large-diaphragm capsule head featuring an edge-terminated, 3µm gold-sputtered Mylar dual-capsule assembly. Switchable between cardioid and omnidirectional operation, the V34C gen2 brings a different tonal perspective to the system and expands its usefulness to sources such as vocals where a large-diaphragm condenser may be preferred. Its capsule assembly is housed in a CNC-machined aircraft-grade aluminum body with carefully designed venting and an open-weave mesh structure. Behind whichever capsule you choose is the V1 gen2's transformer-balanced solid-state circuit. Vanguard uses a precision-biased JFET, custom-wound humbucking dual-bobbin output transformer, premium over-spec components, and deep-cycle cryogenic treatment of critical components in the signal and power paths. The circuit follows Vanguard's streamlined "In = Out" philosophy, placing only four components between the capsule and output. The included VSSM heavy-duty shockmount uses aerospace-grade suspension bands and a windowed design that helps isolate the microphone while maintaining easy access. Everything stores securely in the included locking aluminum case, making the V1 gen2 Lolli a remarkably flexible microphone system that can stay ready for whatever walks into the studio next.
