Auto-Gain and Clip Protection take the guesswork out of setting levels, while USB bus power makes it easy to record wherever inspiration strikes. Built by the same Universal Audio team behind the Apollo family, the Volt 4 Gen 2 gives its two mic preamps three selectable Tone Shaping modes for putting character into a recording before it ever reaches your DAW. Warmth, Focus, and Shine provide Tube, Solid State, and British Class-A-inspired tonal options, letting you quickly find a complementary sound for vocals, guitars, keyboards, and other sources. Its 60 dB of digitally controlled gain, independent 48V phantom power, and front-panel Hi-Z instrument inputs make it easy to accommodate a wide range of microphones and instruments. Volt 4 Gen 2 also gives growing studios plenty of room to expand. In addition to four analog inputs and four balanced line outputs, its optical input supports ADAT or S/PDIF for adding digital sources and up to eight additional input channels. MIDI In and Out accommodate keyboards, controllers, drum machines, and synths, while an onboard USB hub can connect or power compatible peripherals. The full-color Smart Display provides clear feedback for levels and settings, and built-in loopback makes the interface equally useful for podcasting, livestreaming, and other content creation. Full integration with UAD Console and LUNA adds session recall and low-latency cue mixing, and the included collection of UAD plug-ins, instruments, and production software gives you an extensive toolkit for taking a project from first take to final mix.
