Universal Audio Volt 2 Max USB Audio Interface

The Universal Audio Volt 2 Max USB Audio Interface puts serious studio sound into a compact, bus-powered desktop interface built for recording, production, streaming, and content creation.

With two Tone Shaping Preamps, onboard Max compression, professional 32-bit / 192 kHz conversion, Auto-Gain, Clip Protection, and a full-color Smart Display, Volt 2 Max makes it easy to capture polished tracks without slowing down the creative process. Add ADAT expansion, MIDI, dual headphone outputs, built-in talkback, and a generous collection of UAD software, and you have an interface that can start small while leaving plenty of room for your studio to grow. Volt 2 Max gives each of its two preamps three selectable harmonic character modes — Warmth, Focus, and Shine — designed to bring Tube, Solid State, or British Class-A-inspired character to microphones and instruments before the signal ever reaches your DAW. Pair those tonal options with Max Processing and its six onboard compression presets for vocals, guitar, and bass, and you can quickly dial in punch, control, and personality while tracking. The combination provides more than 18 tonal possibilities right from the front panel, with no plug-in latency standing between you and the performance. For day-to-day recording, Volt 2 Max combines flexible connectivity with tools designed to keep sessions moving. Auto-Gain quickly establishes an appropriate recording level, while Clip Protection helps prevent unexpected peaks from ruining a take. The full-color Smart Display provides clear feedback for levels, settings, and gain reduction, and the two mic/line inputs can handle microphones, line-level equipment, or Hi-Z instruments. An optical input supports ADAT or S/PDIF expansion, MIDI I/O connects hardware instruments and controllers, and the onboard USB hub can accommodate compatible peripherals. Dual headphone outputs make collaboration easier, while the integrated talkback microphone and loopback functionality are equally useful for studio sessions, podcasts, livestreams, and other content-production workflows. Volt 2 Max is USB bus-powered and class-compliant for straightforward operation with Mac, Windows, iPad, and iPhone systems, making it equally comfortable on a studio desk or in a portable recording setup. It also integrates with UAD Console and LUNA for features including session recall and low-latency cue mixes. A substantial software package rounds out the system with LUNA plus more than 15 UAD plug-ins and instruments, giving musicians and producers a collection of classic preamps, compressors, reverbs, tape effects, guitar amps, synthesizers, and additional production tools to start making music right away.
