A 1 inch true condenser capsule produces powerful warm sound. With high sensitivity, the Sennheiser MK 4 is ideal for vocals and acoustic instruments. The MK 4 features a 1 inch true condenser capsule based on the acoustics of the e 965 high-end vocal mic, optimized for recording. The Sennheiser MK 4 is made in Germany, its transducer being manufactured in the same clean room as all high-end Sennheiser condenser capsules.

The Sennheiser MK 4 is one of those microphones that quietly impresses the more time you spend with it. While using it in the studio, we were immediately drawn to its smooth, slightly soft top end that still manages to deliver plenty of detail. There’s something special happening in the mids and low mids — a forward, almost “inflating” quality that adds dimension and size to the source without sounding pushed or artificial, all anchored by a full, round bottom end. We’ve had great results using the MK 4 on drum rooms and overheads, percussion in general, acoustic guitars and other stringed instruments, as well as brass and woodwinds. It’s equally at home on vocals, where it delivers a robust, full sound that works across just about any style of music. That versatility is what really stands out. The MK 4 doesn’t demand a specific application — it just sounds good wherever you put it. And considering how confidently it holds its own against microphones at much higher price points, it’s an easy mic to recommend for studios looking for quality, flexibility, and great musical results.
