Peluso P-12 Tube Microphone
The Peluso P-12 Tube Microphone faithfully reproduces the airy sonic qualities and the robust low end of the original AKG C12 microphone.
Produced from 1953 to 1963, the "C12" was revered by engineers for its beautiful vocal quality. The P-12 employs a dual sided edge terminated 34mm gold-coated Mylar capsule and a 6072A glass triode tube. The circuitry and transformer have been designed to match the vintage "C12". Carefully selected components, thorough testing, and attention to detail all come together in this beautiful full-bodied classic tube microphone.
The Peluso P-12 Tube Microphone is paired with the Peluso MX-56 power supply. The dual sided capsule in the P-12 enables the power supply to feature 9 polar patterns in an array from omni-directional to cardioid to figure eight. The P-12 features Peluso's heavy-duty 8-pin screw on cable connector. The large diameter pins in the screw on connector give a tight and secure cable connection designed to perform for a lifetime of use.
Microphone kit comes as a complete system including: P-12 Microphone in a Wood Box, MX-56 Power Supply, New-style 8-Pin Screw on Cable Assembly, and a Shock Mount all packed in a Flight Case. Acoustically matched pairs available upon special request.

What We Think - Peluso P12 Review
"The Peluso P12 has consistently remained a favorite offering from Peluso for our customers. Why? Well, its a very-good-sounding recreation of the AKG C12 microphone. It has a more open and airy top end than your typical tube-mic, and similarly unique is that the low-end is not really hyped or bloomy - thus keeping you from having to root around the low-eq bands trying to make it sound natural and tuck into the mix. This is a really good thing! The mid-range response remains rich and smooth which keeps vocals right up front - great since the money is in the middle! The C12 remains a favorite in professional studios for drum-overheads, and the P12 excels in this capacity as well. Cymbals and the snare drum "crack" benefit from the natural top end boost. But the depth afforded by the tube circuitry really does a number when the cymbals spread behind the lead vocal in the mix. This same depth and frequency response carries over into acoustic guitar recording. Use less EQ for attack and less low end roll off - and you'll have less phase-shift distortion as a result! Pair it up with a Vintech or a Chandler Limited TG2 for a truly classic sound. Overall The Peluso P12 delivers a rich and airy, yet smooth representation of what you are recording."

purchased a p12 mic that needed to be shipped to Switzerland - handling and shipping was extremely fast and I had the mic within a few days. Great service! thank you.
The reason I gave this mic a rating of 5 is because, of all the Peluso models I've owned or used, this mic by far is my favorite. Not only is it outstanding at capturing the naunces and tones of the legendary C12, but it costs only a fraction of what a vintage C12 or clone would cost. For female vocal, you CANT go wrong with this mic. We used this through a Brent Averill 1272 for our female vocalist and for soprano sax, and it was immediately our favorite. We used a pair as drum overheads through a GML - again perfect 10's accross the board. If you've been looking for the C12 sound, look no further. This is the option that will deliver without breaking the bank!
