The Microtech Gefell M 940 SuperCardioid Microphone delivers exceptional detail, outstanding clarity, and precise sound isolation in a remarkably compact large-diaphragm condenser microphone. This version features a bronze finish and includes the MH 93.1 microphone clip.
Designed for professional recording studios, broadcast environments, and demanding home studios, the M 940 combines premium German microphone engineering with an exceptionally low noise floor and impressive dynamic range. Its focused supercardioid polar pattern provides excellent rejection of unwanted off-axis sound, making it an outstanding choice for vocals, voiceovers, acoustic instruments, and applications where isolation is essential. Whether capturing the subtle nuances of a delicate performance or the energy of a powerful instrument, the M 940 delivers the accuracy and musicality that recording professionals expect from Microtech Gefell. At the heart of the Microtech Gefell M 940 is a precision-engineered large-diaphragm condenser capsule featuring a PE diaphragm and advanced solid-state electronics. Its sophisticated impedance converter circuitry delivers exceptional sensitivity while maintaining remarkably low self-noise and the ability to handle high sound pressure levels without distortion. With its supercardioid pickup pattern, the M 940 offers tighter directionality than a traditional cardioid microphone, helping minimize unwanted room reflections and bleed from surrounding instruments. This makes it particularly effective for vocal recording, spoken word, guitar amplifiers, acoustic guitars, percussion, brass, woodwinds, and string instruments in environments where focused sound capture is important. Despite its large-diaphragm design, the M 940 features a compact housing that makes positioning easy, even in crowded recording setups. The microphone capsule and electronics are internally elastically suspended to help reduce the transmission of mechanical vibrations and structure-borne noise. Its extended dynamic range allows the microphone to reproduce both quiet passages and powerful performances with exceptional accuracy. Operating on standard 48V phantom power, the M 940 integrates easily into professional recording systems. This version includes the Microtech Gefell MH 93.1 microphone holder and a protective wooden storage case, providing a complete microphone package ready for professional studio use.
