The HLabs EQ169S Stereo Equalizer brings the smooth, musical character of the legendary Studer 169 console EQ into a dedicated two-channel rackmount processor built for tracking, mixing, and analog tone shaping.
With broad high and low shelving filters, a continuously variable Presence band, and plenty of boost and cut on tap, the EQ169S makes it easy to add weight, clarity, presence, and color without turning your signal into something harsh or overworked. Whether you are sweetening a stereo bus, shaping individual tracks, or committing EQ on the way in, the EQ169S delivers classic console-inspired equalization with a straightforward, hands-on workflow. Inspired by the original Studer 169 equalizer circuit, the EQ169S provides three bands of musical control on each channel. The low shelf offers ±15 dB at 20 Hz for adding foundation or cleaning up excessive low-end energy, while the high shelf provides ±15 dB at 20 kHz for opening up the top end or gently softening bright material. Between them is the signature Presence filter, offering ±11 dB of boost or cut with a continuously variable frequency range from 150 Hz to 7 kHz and an approximate Q of 1.0. This wide, smooth response makes the EQ equally useful for broad tonal balancing and focused midrange enhancement. The EQ169S uses transformerless inputs and outputs with high-quality op-amps for clean signal handling while preserving the musical behavior of the original circuit. Relay-operated true bypass allows quick, transparent comparisons, while a multicolor output level indicator helps you keep an eye on post-EQ signal level and saturation. Independent output earth-lift switches can help eliminate troublesome ground loops, and Neutrik XLR connections make the EQ169S easy to integrate into professional balanced analog systems.
