What We Think
I have been a long time user of the Direct Sound headphones. I will not record drums or vocals without them. However, the two things that always kind of bothered me with them, were the comfort of wearing them for long periods of time, and the sound quality. After a few hours of wearing them, you kind of needed a break. They would not remain comfortable for long periods of time. With the improved "Plus Series" of headphones, that has greatly changed. The increased comfort level is beyond noticeable. They are simply much more enjoyable to wear. And then there is the sound quality. Now don't get me wrong, they have always sounded good. But, being a sealed isolation headphone, there is bound to be a build up of low mids and even low end. This was clearly a characteristic of the original designs. That though, is no more the case. The Plus Series sounds as clear, balanced, and clean as any other quality headphone in their price range - yet you still get the isolation you need. This is a stark contrast in performance, and a very very enjoyable one. It is such an improvement, that buying a new set was not only not out of the question, it was a must. The EX-25 Plus and EX-29 Plus are a big step forward for Direct Sound, and one that makes me a fan of theirs all over again. Simply great headphones, and a must for drums (and in my opinion, vocals as well).

I have the old version of the ex-25s and these are an upgrade. They feel better around the ears as well.
I'm not a serious musician or recording artist, but I needed (ok wanted) some top of the line headphones to use while I code. These are awesome. They block out my co-workers without making me crank up the volume, and the sound quality is superior to any headphones I could just pick up at a generic store.
