Austrian Audio OC616 Multi-Pattern Microphone

The Austrian Audio OC616 Multi-Pattern Microphone brings exceptional versatility, outstanding sonic detail, and serious recording performance together in one beautifully engineered large-diaphragm condenser microphone.

Handcrafted in Vienna and built around Austrian Audio's innovative CKR12 capsule, the OC616 delivers a clear, direct, and naturally detailed sound that captures everything from intimate vocals and delicate acoustic instruments to thunderous drums and cranked guitar amplifiers. With five selectable polar patterns, impressive dynamic range, and extensive onboard controls, this professional studio microphone is ready to tackle just about anything you put in front of it. Whether you're recording your next masterpiece, capturing a full drum kit, or experimenting with creative stereo techniques, the OC616 gives you the flexibility and confidence to get the sound you're after. At the heart of the Austrian Audio OC616 is the precision-engineered CKR12 capsule, a handcrafted 1-inch true condenser design inspired by the legendary CK12 capsule architecture. Featuring an edge-contacted diaphragm design and a modern ceramic isolator, the CKR12 is individually measured during production to ensure consistent performance, low distortion, and exceptional transient response. The result is a microphone that reproduces the natural character of your source with remarkable clarity, controlled low frequencies, and an open, detailed top end. Austrian Audio's Open Acoustic Technology further enhances this performance by minimizing internal reflections and acoustic interference around the capsule. This carefully engineered approach helps preserve natural tonal balance, improves polar pattern consistency, and delivers the kind of honest, uncolored sound that recording engineers appreciate. Versatility is where the OC616 really shines. Five selectable polar patterns, including cardioid, wide cardioid, hypercardioid, omnidirectional, and figure-8, allow you to tailor the microphone's pickup characteristics to virtually any recording situation. Capture focused lead vocals, spacious room ambience, detailed acoustic instruments, or experiment with Mid/Side and Blumlein stereo recording techniques. Three switchable high-pass filters provide convenient control over unwanted low-frequency energy, while two attenuation pads make it easy to accommodate exceptionally loud sound sources without sacrificing clarity. With tremendous headroom and the ability to handle sound pressure levels up to 157 dB SPL, the OC616 is equally comfortable capturing a whispered vocal performance or a screaming guitar cabinet. It's a powerful, adaptable recording tool that feels right at home in professional studios, project studios, and demanding live recording environments.
