CAD E100S Studio Recording Package Details

The CAD E100S Studio Microphone Recording Package combines the low noise CAD E100s with the versatile CAD e70 giving you control and options over your recording sessions. This package is perfect for acoustic, string, vocal and drum recordings. Front End Audio has taken this package one step further and thrown in a CAD Popfilter and two CAD Mic Cables ensuring you are ready to go right out of the box!

The CAD E100S microphone has the lowest noise floor in its class (3.7 dBA) and the smooth, vintage tone and robust low end CAD is known for. The bootstrapped, full differential Quadra-FET front end delivers high sensitivity and low distortion, plus CAD??s proprietary circuitry ensures the highest performance. The nickel plated 1 inch capsule delivers accurate phasing on instruments, and a full rich vocal tone, accentuated by the extended low frequency response. Features include an 80Hz hi-pass filter and a 10dB pad. From vocals to percussion, acoustic instruments and everything in between, the CAD Equitek E100S will prove to be one of the most versatile tools in your microphone locker, in the studio or on stage. Vintage woodgrain cherry case and stealth shock mount included. 48V Phantom power is required.

The CAD E70 microphone has an omnidirectional capsule for flat near-field and ambience pick up, and a cardioid capsule for proximity boost and off-axis rejection. The complement of the CAD e60 and the second of virtuoso Al Dimeola's 2 favorite mics for acoustic guitar, you can use the CAD e70 mic to capture your instrumentation with exacting detail. As well as being an ideal acoustic guitar mic, the e70 is excellent for capturing other stringed instruments and as an overhead cymbal mic. Features include field-effect detection, transformerless drive, a dual-frequency hi-pass filter and 2-position attenuator. CAD includes an elastic shock mount, stand clamp, and a windscreen with the e70 modular microphone. 48V phantom power required.

What We Think - CAD E100S Studio Recording Package Review

The CAD E100S is a truly fantastic multi-purpose microphone. Put one up when you don't have time to fiddle and putz around trying out a ton of different mics and you should get a sound that is at the very least better than just usable. The nice and smooth, yet lifted top-end adds a refined clarity to the recorded sound. So, you're not going to need to add highs with an EQ, but you're also not going to have to take them away since there is nothing harsh or overbearing with this mic. The super-cardioid pattern helps to reject potentially unwanted room noise and keeps the mic on point. It's a winner for acoustic guitar, electric guitar, drums, percussion, bass cabinets, and pretty much whatever you can throw at it - it wins. CAD has produced yet another fantastic microphone!

What a great mic!  Not only do I get great sound, rich and warm with little proximity effect, but the super-cardiod pattern & high-pass filter reduce possible extraneous noise under less-than-perfect recording situations.  For the highest quality at the least expense, I'm not sure you can find anything better.
