The Steinberg Cubase Pro 16 Recording Software delivers a complete professional music production environment for recording, composing, editing, mixing, and mastering with the creative freedom and precision that serious producers, engineers, and composers demand.
As the flagship version of Steinberg's acclaimed digital audio workstation (DAW), Cubase Pro 16 combines powerful audio and MIDI tools, advanced mixing capabilities, virtual instruments, and an extensive collection of effects into one streamlined platform. Whether you're tracking a full band, producing electronic music, creating orchestral arrangements, or mixing complex studio sessions, Cubase Pro 16 gives you the tools to bring your ideas to life without slowing down your creativity. Cubase Pro 16 introduces an impressive collection of new features designed to make music production faster, more intuitive, and more expressive. New Instrument Stacks let you combine multiple VST instruments, sampler tracks, and drum tracks into a single playable instrument with individual layer filtering and unified control. Enhanced Stem Separation 2 technology delivers improved audio separation with dedicated piano and guitar extraction, while new Spectral AudioWarp modes open up creative possibilities for extreme time-stretching and pitch manipulation. The redesigned Tempo Detection workflow makes matching imported recordings to your project's tempo easier, and new Key Editor Strum and Stretch functions provide greater control over MIDI performances. Additional creative tools include DrumChain for powerful drum processing, VocalTouch for intuitive vocal shaping, and a new Module FM library featuring more than 200 HALion Sonic presets. Built for demanding professional productions, Cubase Pro 16 provides advanced mixing, routing, editing, and monitoring capabilities that distinguish it from the Artist and Elements editions. The powerful MixConsole offers comprehensive channel processing, automation, and flexible signal routing, now expanded to 16 sends and eight cue sends per track. Integrated Control Room functionality supports sophisticated monitoring configurations, while VariAudio provides detailed vocal pitch and timing correction. Professional features such as Modulators, advanced scoring and notation, surround mixing, Dolby Atmos production, and external hardware integration make Cubase Pro 16 equally comfortable in commercial recording studios, post-production facilities, and composition environments. With unlimited tracks, 96 included effects, 11 virtual instruments and libraries, and more than 20 GB of samples and loops, Cubase Pro 16 is ready for productions of virtually any scale.
Steinberg Cubase Versions
Steinberg offers Cubase in three main versions - Steinberg Cubase Elements, Steinberg Cubase Artist, and Steinberg Cubase Pro - each tailored to different levels of music production needs. Cubase Elements serves as the entry-level option, providing essential recording, editing, and mixing tools with limited track counts and basic plugin and routing features, ideal for beginners or small home studios. Cubase Artist expands on this with more tracks, advanced MIDI and audio editing capabilities, a larger suite of instruments and effects, and greater flexibility for serious musicians and project studios. At the top, Cubase Pro delivers the complete professional toolkit, including unlimited tracks, advanced mixing and mastering features, surround and immersive audio support, full control-room and routing options, and a comprehensive set of editing, scoring, and post-production tools designed for professional engineers, producers, and composers.

I really want to be able to switch away
Oct 27th 2021Cubase is awful. It's buggy, new bugs are introduced with each major update, it costs an arm and a leg to update, updates don't add that much but you basically have to get them because they may have a key bugfix. (Bugfixes aren't backported to previous versions.) Cue the vicious cycle. Unfortunately there's nothing better for large orchestral MIDI projects and deep notation editing, so I'm stuck. Studio One is rapidly catching up with new articulation management and Notion features, so I would recommend new users to just use that.

Excellent Recording/Composition Software
Mar 27th 2012Been using Cubase for years and it gets more stable and useful with each release. The 6.5 VST synth add-ons sound really nice. The program is not single-window like ableton and others which I prefer. In terms of midi composition and editing, it has no peers. Audio editing is on par with Pro Tools. 64bit works great.

No Competition
Jan 11th 2012Don't believe the hype that Protools is the only game in town! I've been using Cubase since 95 on an Atari ST and it keeps getting better and better. I have no complaints. Steinberg continually stays ahead of the curve with each release and this is no exception. Their version of Auto-tune is built in on the version and you can even program cc changes for each individual note! Nobody has that yet:) Get some!
