The RME Fireface UFX III Audio Interface is a 188-channel, 24-bit/192 kHz USB 3 audio interface built to sit at the center of demanding recording, mixing, mastering, broadcast, and live production systems.
Combining extensive analog and digital connectivity with 64-channel MADI, RME's renowned low-latency USB performance, SteadyClock FS, TotalMix FX, DURec direct USB recording, and full USB 3 Class Compliant operation, the Fireface UFX III gives professional studios an exceptionally flexible platform that can handle everything from a compact tracking session to a massive multichannel workflow. At its core, the Fireface UFX III supports up to 94 channels of simultaneous input and output over USB 3, with 12 analog inputs and outputs, four front-panel microphone/instrument/line inputs, dual ADAT I/O, AES/EBU, optical and coaxial MADI capability, word clock, and dual MIDI I/O. RME's redesigned analog and digital circuitry incorporates updated AD/DA conversion with improved THD+N performance, while all line-level outputs are DC-coupled for integration with modular synthesizers and other equipment that uses CV and Gate signals. The four front-panel mic inputs offer up to 75 dB of gain, making the UFX III equally comfortable with conventional studio microphones and lower-output sources. The Fireface UFX III also goes well beyond conventional computer-based audio interfacing. DURec allows selected inputs and outputs to be recorded directly to USB storage without a computer, turning the interface into a standalone multichannel recorder and playback system for live recording, rehearsals, virtual soundchecks, and location work. TotalMix FX provides sophisticated routing, independent monitor mixes, EQ, dynamics, reverb, delay, and Room EQ functionality, while DIGICheck adds detailed metering and analysis tools. Full USB 3 Class Compliant support further expands the system's versatility, allowing all channels to be accessed without proprietary drivers on compatible Linux, macOS, and iPadOS systems.
