    Heavy but doesn't fit well

Posted by Alyssia Holland on May 12th 2016

I bought these as counterweights for my mic stands (typical boom stands), and the way the pressure screw is bored/threaded, the screw will slip right past the boom tube, so it doesn't sit right. It seems to be bored at the wrong angle. I bought 4 of them, and only 2 of them fit well on my mic stands. If the tubes were thicker, this might be different. Consider whether or not this is a good choice before purchasing. I may adjust this by fattening up the tube with duct tape (the musician's fix-all).

    3 lb counterweight

After seeing these, I had to try one. I slipped one onto the base of an extended boom mic stand with a heavy, LDC mic and it makes it much more stable.

    A nice addition

When I saw the Counterweights I had to try then out. My studio has carpet on the floor, which makes the mic stands a little more unstable, especially when a heavy tube mic is on an extended boom. The Counterweight realy helps to balance out the stand. I'm Very glad I bought them!!! I no longer worry about my mics crashing to the floor. Try one. You'll buy more. You can also slip one on at the bottom of the mic stand for more stability. It works GREAT that way too.
