What We Think: Apogee Symphony Desktop

Hey there! I'm Wes, one of the sales reps here at Front End Audio. I was able to spend a few weeks with The Apogee Symphony Desktop Audio Interface we have here in our office studio. And I have to tell you..it blew me away! The converter quality is top notch. Apogee packed in their flagship converters from the Symphony I/O MKII line into this small-form desktop interface. The first thing I did was open a session in Studio One and play some of my reference mixes. Everything sounded so open and detailed! I literally fell in love. Here's proof:

The workflow for tracking with the included Apogee plugins is awesome. With the built in DSP, you can track with Apogee’s bundled plugins in real time with no audible latency. One of my favorite features is that unlike some of Apogee’s competitors, their plugins also work natively! Meaning, you don’t need to have the interface connected for their plugins to work. And between Apogee’s “dual-path” workflow and the beautiful plugin display on the interface, you never have to leave your DAW! You’re able to control plugins, adjust gain, routing and more all with a touch screen and encoder on the Symphony Desktop. It’s so fun to use! And since the Symphony Desktop is a USB Interface, it’s compatible with Mac or PC users. I only wish Apogee included another pair of analog outputs. That way, you could use outboard gear without needing to utilize the ADAT I/O.

If you have any questions about the Symphony Desktop, feel free to give me a call here at Front End Audio and I'll be happy to help! This thing is great. If you’re in the market for a new interface with AWESOME converter quality, great sounding mic preamps, a fun and easy to use workflow all in a smaller desktop form, look no further! I bet you’ll fall in love too. – Wes
