The Pinnacle Microphones Vinnie Ribbon Microphone is a long ribbon microphone designed to produce the most open, intimate, warm, and articulate sound with no modifications required. Ideal for recording acoustic guitars and vocals, the Vinnie is an exceptional value that competes with ribbon microphones that cost much more.
The Vinnie features a 2 7/16 long ribbon of aluminum, suspended in the field of a pair of Neodymium rare earth permanent magnets. When the ribbon is exposed to sound it vibrates within the magnetic field, and a tiny current is induced in the ribbon. This current is amplified to produce sound. What makes ribbon microphones so incredibly sensitive and accurate is that the signal comes directly from the material that senses the sound; nothing is lost in translation.
The Pinnacle Microphones Fat Top II, which features a short single ribbon offers that fastest response and is well suited for guitar cabinets, drum overheads and room mics. The Vinnie is a long ribbon microphone which offers extended low and top end frequencies and work well on acoustic guitars and vocals. Overall, ribbon microphones are very forgiving and will work well with just about anything you put in front of it.

The Pinnacle Microphones Vinnie Ribbon Microphone is a really cool microphone. It has that "vintage" robust warm tone that is kind of the staple tone for ribbon mics. Further it can handle high spl sources with ease (of course you still want to angle the mic and be mindful of wind blasts - as with any robbon). But, this make the Vinnie a great mic for guitar cabs, drum overheads, (orchestral) stringed instruments, and horns.
