Avantone developed the active MixCubes around a proprietary 5.25-inch full-range driver featuring a cast aluminum frame and a specially crafted paper cone. The single-driver design eliminates a crossover from the signal path, providing a direct, coherent presentation that makes it easier to concentrate on vocals, guitars, snare, keyboards, and other mix elements occupying the all-important midrange. Each monitor also incorporates its own Class A/B amplifier, eliminating the need for an external power amp and making the system easy to integrate into professional studios, production rooms, and mobile setups.The sealed 18mm MDF enclosure is compact enough to fit where another conventional monitor system may not, while a recessed 5/8"-27 microphone stand mount provides additional placement flexibility. Great Secondary Set
Apr 1st 2017Been using these for about a year next to my Focals and they are invaluable as a second reference. They really show you what's happening in the midrange of the mix.

Mix cubes are excellent secondary monitors.
Nov 25th 2016These speakers are the best value secondary monitor and I use them for their midrange focus,and to make certain of mono compatability. I find mono makes me work harder to achieve clarity for each instrument and vocals.

Quality Referrence Monitors...
Aug 9th 2012The Mixcubes have to be burned in, which takes a little time. These little guys replaced my NS10's. They do their job very well, not to mention they look great while doing it. Build is awesome! There is a reason why mixers use Mixcubes......

Jan 13th 2010I bought these off Front End a few months ago and they have been a critical purchase in changing and enhancing my setup. I use them in a monitor setup with a pair of Adam A7 monitors and between the 2 my only issues in regards to accuracy is my crappy room! Although since adding these i find i get MUCH closer to where i am aiming MUCH quicker. They are basically a mid range monitor and they don't sound very good. They are not meant to though. These are meant be accurate, and in that they are. You want the truth? If you can handle the truth craft your mix on these. If you can't handle the Truth mix on a Bose system and you will sound good (to you on THAT system) no matter how much it sucks. The active versions in my opinion are a godsend. The power supplies are massive but it beats hooking them up to an amp and i guess the remain a portable option if required.
