Allen & Heath AB-168 Stage Box

The Allen & Heath AB-168 Stage Box is a 48kHz portable remote AudioRack for use with the GLD, Qu and SQ mixers. Featuring 16 mic preamps with Phantom Power indicators and 8 XLR line outs, AB-168 runs on Allen & Heath’s proprietary dSNAKE protocol and is compatible with both the Qu and GLD ranges.

The Allen & Heath AB-168 Stage Box is a portable remote audio rack for a digital mixing system. Adding the Allen & Heath AB-168 Stage Box to a compatible system allows some or all I/O to be positioned up to 100m from the mixer. The unit connects over a single Cat5 cable to the Qu/GLD mixer or AR2412 AudioRack via a secure dSNAKE EtherCon port. A second EtherCon port is provided for daisy-chaining to another Allen & Heath AB-168 box or connection of a ME personal mixing system. The Allen & Heath AB-168 auto updates its firmware to synchronise with the system.

The rack’s rugged design, including rubber bumpers, renders it highly roadworthy and allows it to be placed on the stage floor during performances. Weighing in at just 4.8kg and featuring a sturdy carry handle, Allen & Heath AB-168 is also designed for maximum convenience and portability. An optional rack mounting kit (AB-168RK-10) is also available.

    Super quick and small footprint

I use this with either my QU PAC to expand to 32 channels or my QU16 as stage box. I love not having to mess with 16 xlr channel inputs - I can just connect cat5 cable and I'm done. Physical size is perfect - I just place in front of or behind drums. Also extends number of mixes which is helpful if more than 3 stereo mixes are required for iem or wedges. Great buy.
