The Grace Design m501 is a 500-Series version of the Grace Design m101 microphone preamp. It is natural, musical and detailed, allowing engineers and musicians to consistently record vibrant, amazing tracks.

The Grace Design m501 500-Series Microphone Preamp offers natural, musical clarity that makes it a welcome addition to the field. This circuit is for engineers confident with the quality of the source, mic section and placement, and wish to capture it with as little coloration or distortion as possible. The Grace Design m501 module is a balanced, transformerles design, with 48V phantom, a 75Hz HPF and a 1/4” HI-Z instrument input. Also standard is Grace Design's exclusive ribbon mic mode, which raises the mic input impedance, bypasses the input decoupling capacitors and deactivates 48V phantom to protect delicate ribbon mics from damage. Large diaphragm, vintage ribbon or trusty dynamic – the Grace Design m501 brings out the very best in any microphone and takes the guesswork out of your input chain.

    Clean, Clear, Accurate
    Nathan

I've use a stereo pair of these on just about everything (overheads, room ribbons, stereo (sdc) acoustic guitar, violin, and even some female vocals (ldc)). The Grace is extremely clean and clear, but adds a small touch of shimmer, almost like a high frequency tilt but without the bright, tinny, annoying tinny sound that a lot of cheap mics and pres can add to your source. They use Grace Design pres in Hollywood studios to record orchestral scores for film. You won't regret purchasing one or several of these guys.
