The iZotope Stutter Edit 2 Effect Plug-In is a creative mixing and sound design tool that can accomplish anything from glitchy stacatto sound manipulations to esoteric phase-distortion effects and more.

Use this tool in fashioning electronic music, in creating strange soundbed tapestries for viewable media, or to process individual elements of a mix in ideosyncratic ways. With a MIDI mode that allows you to play presets with your compatible MIDI controller, Stutter Edit 2 can also be performed in a manner similar to a virtual instrument.

There are times when one word really does cover it — and for iZotope Stutter Edit 2, that word is awesome. The first time we started using it in the studio, it immediately opened the door to a whole new level of sonic creativity… and yes, a little destruction too. Stutters, chops, glitches, noise, bit-crushing — it’s all here, and it’s all designed to be played like an instrument rather than tweaked like a typical plug-in. While working on sessions, we loved setting Stutter Edit up on an FX bus and triggering it from a MIDI controller or sequenced MIDI track. Routing vocals, synths, guitars, or drums through it and then redesigning them on the fly is ridiculously fun — and surprisingly musical. Being able to assign different effects and behaviors to different note values makes it easy to create evolving patterns and variations that feel intentional instead of random. And once you take it out of the studio and onto a stage, it becomes a performance tool that can completely transform songs in real time and get a crowd moving. On recent projects, Stutter Edit 2 ended up being one of those “secret sauce” tools. More than once, it was that final layer of stuttered chaos or rhythmic glitch that pushed a track from good to done. It’s inspiring, playful, and dangerously addictive — the kind of plug-in that reminds you production should be fun. iZotope absolutely nailed it with Stutter Edit 2, and once you start using it, you’ll find excuses to keep reaching for it.
