The Heritage Audio 73 DI 2 is a dual-channel active DI box that embeds the sonic signature and harmonic richness of Heritage’s 73 topology into direct instrument routing. Each channel uses a discrete Class A JFET front end driving a custom low-impedance, transformer-coupled output (the “73-DI” transformer) to produce a dynamic, colored direct sound while maintaining strong signal integrity and low noise. The unit is built in a rugged extruded aluminum frame with recessed connectors and 14-gauge steel panels to minimize mechanical stress and withstand road use. Thanks to its high input headroom, the 73 DI 2 not only excels with passive instruments like electric guitars and basses but is also well suited for keyboards, synths, drum machines, and other line-level sources without coloration loss. It aims to combine the “vintage warmth and vibe” of the 73 sound with the convenience and noise/immunity advantages of a professional direct box topology. The 73DI 2 is the two channel version of the Heritage Audio 73DI One.
