The CAPI Heider H2 1dB 500-Series Preamp brings the sound and character of the legendary Wally Heider Recording Studio 4 console to your 500-Series rack. Inspired by the custom preamps designed by Frank DeMedio in the early 1970s, the H2 delivers a big, punchy, and dimensional analog sound that works beautifully on vocals, drums, guitars, bass, and more. Its two-stage gain design lets you control how hard you drive the preamp while using the channel fader to manage the output, giving you plenty of room to experiment with everything from clean and open tones to more colorful, harmonically rich sounds. The 1dB version adds finer 1dB fader steps for more precise control, while custom transformers, discrete op-amps, mic and line operation, an 80Hz high-pass filter, 16dB pad, and switchable input impedance make the Heider H2 a flexible and characterful front end for just about any recording setup.
