Built for engineers chasing vintage British character with modern reliability, the FD312 H2 brings the distinctive sound of the legendary Wally Heider Recording Studio 4 console to your 500-Series rack, wrapped in a limited-edition pink faceplate. Inspired by the console’s custom Frank DeMedio-modified preamps from the early 1970s, the H2 delivers a big, deep, and dimensional analog sound with smooth mids and plenty of character. Its two-stage design gives you separate Preamp Gain and Channel Fader controls, allowing you to keep things clean and open or drive the preamp harder for added harmonic color while controlling the final level. Custom CAPI transformers and discrete op-amps are used throughout the signal path, while mic and line operation, an 80Hz high-pass filter, 16dB pad, switchable input impedance, and up to 72dB of gain make the H2 a versatile choice for vocals, drums, guitars, bass, and more.
