The API 3122V 2-Channel Mic Preamp puts two channels of classic API tone, punch, and headroom into a streamlined 1U rackmount design built for serious recording. With API 2520 op-amps, proprietary transformers, variable output controls, and up to 68 dB of microphone gain, the 3122V delivers the authoritative character that has made API microphone preamps a studio standard while adding the flexibility modern recording setups demand. Built around the same established API circuit architecture used throughout the company's classic microphone preamp lineup, the 3122V combines proprietary AP2516 input transformers, API 2520 op-amps, and transformer-balanced outputs for a powerful analog front end suitable for vocals, drums, guitars, bass, keyboards, and just about anything else worth putting in front of a microphone. Each channel provides selectable front or rear microphone inputs, a front-panel Hi-Z instrument input, 48V phantom power, polarity reversal, a -20 dB pad, and a fixed-frequency high-pass filter. One of the 3122V's most useful tools is its variable output level control, which lets you balance preamp gain against output level for greater control over gain staging and tonal character. A selectable 3:1 output transformer tap provides another way to alter the relationship between the amplifier and output transformer, while vintage-style analog VU meters and dedicated peak LEDs make level monitoring quick and intuitive.
