The AnaMod XF Tube Transformer and Tube Simulator is designed to shape the sound of your music in a purely analog fashion! This stereo pair is designed for processing of your stereo recording applications.

Whether tracking live instruments or processing stereo or mix bus, many engineers use a tube amplifier to shape the sound of aufio. The AnaMod XF Tube provides a unique way to do this in a highly controllable fashion. The XF Tube is an analog model of a highly-configurable amplifier. It provides an input transformer, 2 tube stages, and an output transformer. Any of the stages may be bypassed and each stage has switchable parameters. The transformer stages allow for the selection of an iron or nickel core while the tube stages provide options for both pentodes and triodes as well as configuring the stage as either push-pull or single-ended.

The XF Tube, while being model-based, is a purely analog device. It was created using The AnaMod Process to model the complex tube and transformer characteristics of vintage amplifiers. Unlike digital plug-ins or processor-based outboard gear, there is no latency and no A/D or D/A conversion to compromise the sound.

Anamod XF Tube — Pricey, but worth it
    Michael Carmona

I had a really hard time deciding to pull the plug and buy two of these units about 5 years ago, as there is next to zero information on them available on the net, and not a lot (again, zero) of audio samples of these units. Having had these in my collection for some time now, I will say that none of the plug-ins I own can replicate what the Anamod does. It gives each mic pretty much infinitely variable sonic character and with zero latency since it is all analog, and the audio quality is really indistinguishable from tube and XF based units I have used. My only criticism is that it can be hard to match levels between two units sometimes, it can require very careful listening rather than using your eyes. And the knobs could be a bit sturdier (assuming they have not changed in 5 years), but don’t let that scare you away, these are a secret weapon for me.I I have gotten rid of a lot of 500 series units , even some old Moog Analog delays, which were also very good, but when I needed to cut back on some gear, it should say something that the moog was sold off but the Anamods remained in my collection !

What We Think

The Anamod XF Tube is truly best in a pair. A pair of these units opens so many doors in creativity. You can of course get crazy and run them in tandem if you want to stack on the tweakability. However these are extremely powerful for stereo bus applications such as drum bus, and complete mix bus. They can add grit and punch to liven up drums, or enhance and elevate a complete mix. Put these on the output of a summing mixer and stack on the analog goodness to your taste.
