The AnaMod 660 500-Series Compressor is a faithful reproduction of the classic Fairchild 660, but with an AnaMod-style!

The Fairchild 660 limiter is one of the most famous and sought-after compressors ever made. The magical way it adds density and dimension to a track or a mix has been demonstrated on many of the best-sounding records made in the last 50 years. Using The AnaMod Process to model the complex transformer and tube interactions of the vintage hardware and re-implementing it entirely with analog components, the AnaMod 660 delivers a faithful recreation of the classic unit's sound and compression action. Unlike digital plug-ins or DSP-based outboard gear, there's no latency and no A/D or D/A conversions to compromise the sound.

Time Constants
Positions 1-6 are the original time constants. Positions 2a and 2b are variations on position 2 with longer release times suitable for vocal performances.

The AnaMod 660 is one of those pieces that immediately earns respect once you start using it. While working with it in the studio, it became clear just how well it captures the behavior and tone of the classic Fairchild 660 — and doing that in a 500-series format is impressive on its own. What’s even more impressive is that it pulls this off without using tubes at all. It simply feels right. For us, Fairchild-style compression has always been a secret weapon on drums, and the AnaMod 660 absolutely delivers in that role. The punch, definition, and tightness it brings to a kit is incredibly satisfying, all wrapped in a smooth, musical character that never sounds forced. Drums feel controlled but alive, which is exactly what you want. That said, it’s not a one-trick box. Dial it back and it becomes just as effective for subtle enhancement and gentle glue on a mix. The AnaMod 660 manages to be powerful and refined at the same time — a great compressor that earns its place in any serious 500-series rack.
