The ADK Berlin 47 T-FET Microphone is an electric sounding mic. There is a nice energy in the upper mids that brings to life brass and woodwind instruments, as well as steel stringed acoustics, cymbals, and works very well with Tenor vocalists.

The ADK Berlin 47 T-FET Microphone is part of ADK's Custom Shop FET microphones, based on a unique FET circuit that saturates gradually (unlike most condenser microphones which tend to clip abruptly). The key to the tonality is it's Belgian-American-Australian-Designed Capsule, British Oxford Transformers, Hi-End Phillips Norelco Uber-FET. Manufactured with Hi-Fi Methods and Materials - which includes a $6 Resistor! It took three microphone experts including a PhD in Physics, a Design Genius in Belgium and a 40 year-old Mic Locker to create it! Two-Way Attenuation Pads & Two Way HP Filter to enable end-user to tailor the dynamic behavior of the microphone and create new textures, with rarely the need for outboard processors or even EQ. The Berlin 47-T has rich low end with a little sparkle on top! It is a tri-polar microphone with selectable Cardioid, Figure-8, and Omni pickup patterns.

My experience with the ADK 47 custom
    Donnie Scearce

The fit and finish of the mic, as expected from a mic in this price range, is very good. This always instills a level of confidence, for me, that says the mic is going to have the same level of attention to detail in the sound quality too. I was not surprised that the mic performs as well as it does. Ive tested hundreds of mics over the years and have a pretty good idea of how a mic is gonna fit into my color palette after giving it a solo listen. The 47 works great on male vocals, acoustic guitars, and as a room mic for drums so far. I try to purchase all my pro audio gear from front end audio as well. I know and TRUST the sales team. They have always gone the extra mile for me.

What We Think

The ADK Berlin 47 T-FET is one of those microphones that clearly has a personality — and that’s exactly why we like it. While using it in the studio, what immediately stood out was its forward midrange presence, paired with a slightly rolled-off top and bottom that keeps things focused and intentional. The upper mids have an energetic, almost electric liveliness that adds bite and attitude without crossing into harshness. That character really shines on the right sources. We’ve loved it on snare drum and cymbals, where it brings out attack and definition, and it does a great job adding edge and clarity to brass, woodwinds, and acoustic guitars. Vocally, it’s a strong match for tenor and alto voices, helping them cut and stay present in a mix without needing much extra help. Among the ADK T-FET lineup, the Berlin is definitely one of the more character-driven options, and that’s what makes it such a gem. It’s not trying to be neutral — it’s trying to be interesting, and it succeeds.
