The FMR Audio PBC-6A Compressor is an aggressive single-channel compressor. From mild and smooth satin-like sound to over-the-top squashing, the PBC-6A Compressor can be dialed-in to enhance almost any sound source.

The FMR Audio PBC-6A "vintage-y" compressor possesses sonic bits'n'pieces reminiscent of many vintage compressors. The PBC-6A provides an unusual control complement to provide maximum flexibility in dynamically sculpting your sound: variable sidechain, sidechain access, hyper-exponential & linear release envelope control (Normal/THICK mode), 4 different linking methods, separate ATTACK & RELEASE time controls, hardwired bypass function and balanced audio input/output stages.

How It Sounds
The FMR Audio PBC-6A is capable of a large range of effects. In a minimum DRIVE and KNEE setting, the resulting effects is a subtle, slight textural change to the source. Increasing DRIVE levels and, more drastically, increasing the KNEE control causes a less gradual change from low ratio compression to larger ratios occuring over smaller input signal changes. The result can be a drastic alteration of the source sound. Whether you're trying to get a sound to "sit right" in the mix or create over-the-top sonic effects, the PBC can be adjusted to help you realize your vision!

How It's Done
Combining FMR Audio's trademark digitally-controlled analog processing in a "no-threshold" (i.e., very low threshold) feedback configuration, the input DRIVE, KNEE and SIDECHAIN FILTER controls are key to the PBC's flexibility. Additionally, the THICK control subtly restores the natural transient dynamics to the signal.

    FMR PBC-6A Compressor

This compressor is a dream. It is an absolute Studio Worthy piece of equipment. For Starters just set the controls to 12 o’clock and tweak from there. (If necessary) Great product!

    loving touch- or -heavy hitter!
    Dan

I like the sound of the PBC6a when compressing vocal slightly, electric guitars a bit more, and bass guitar with even a bit more "Drive" and "Knee". The smooth is like butter, and the hard is a hammer. I also own the FMR- RNC, which sounds great, but this one is different altogether, in a very good way. Other people who have experience with expensive compressors have said that the PBC6a competes with some of those. I believe it!

    Incredibly sounding pro unit
    Juan Carlos Zeta

I bought a pair of Pbc-6a's end of 2009 at frontendaudio especially for vocals, bass, guitars and stereo bus applications. The Pbc-6a is incredibly pro sounding and versatile. It can be set either clean or colored and it tends to soften the whole signal in a very musical way. It works especially well on vocals and bass and is quite easy to set. It's great on stereo bus, but only if you carefully read the manual which explains the special mode for sidechain and master/slave configurations when linking two units with a trs/ trs cable. If You're looking for a great sounding compressor extremly pro sounding then go for it and add a zero at the end of the price, that's how this compressors sounds like.

    Pbc-6a
    Nick Orr

I was looking for something to handle bass. I ended up speaking with Alan moon and between the dbx-160 and the pbc-6a he said I would get a broader range with the pbc-6a and that the sound was great on a many of sources. This thing does definitely have some thick character to it. I do a lot of punk rock and hardcore so it fit in perfectly. Bass and vocals aryenow in a place where I've wanted them to be without a ton of money. This is my second fmr product. I have thence and love the trancparency of it. I would totally recommendfmr to anyone looking at some quality sounding comps. Thanks Alan
