Audix VX5 Electret Condenser Vocal Microphone

Audix VX5 Electret Condenser Vocal Microphone

Audix VX5 Details
The Audix VX5 is a hand-held vocal condenser microphone designed to handle a wide variety of live, studio and broadcast applications. With a smooth frequency response of 40 Hz - 16.5 kHz (plus or minus 3 dB), the VX5 microphone features a 14mm gold vapor diaphragm, a supercardioid polar pattern, a -10 dB pad, a bass roll-off filter, an acoustically ported steel mesh grill screen, and a rugged die cast zinc body.

The VX5 will handle sound pressure levels in excess of 140 dB (in the pad and roll-off position) without distortion and will additionally provide over 20 dB of ambient noise rejection for feedback control on live stages.

The Audix VX5 operates on phantom power of 9-52 volts and will achieve optimum results when used with a high quality mic preamp. In addition to vocal applications, the VX5 mic is ideally suited to capture acoustic instruments such as guitar, woodwinds, brass, percussion toys, and drum overheads and hi-hat.

Budget Condenser of the Year for a Reason! April 9, 2010
Reviewer: David Hoover from Sebastian, FL United States
I use this every week on a vocalist with an airy and bassy voice and WOW does it deliver!  It will resproduce naturally whatever vocal you put in front of it due to it's +/- 3dB response.  Depending on the mix, it could be good or bad.  Sometimes you will need to boost the presense to cut through by a couple dB, but that's it!!  I use this mic next to the PR-35 every week, and they are both nice depending on the vocal.  I let a friend borrow this mic and try it on a few vocals on their big turbosound arrays.  He tested it next to every mic they had including the Neumann KMS 105.  He now wants to buy a bunch of them because it blew them all away.  Only catagory I have used that come close is Beta87c...yea I never used the Beta87c to begin with because it sounds so thin.  VX5 is an AMAZING MIC!  BTW, "kink.fm" uses it, so you can listen to it there under videos.
