The ADK Hamburg Mk8 Microphone has a silky smooth top, forward warm mids, and a robust but natural bottom. All this culminates into a rich charactered mic that is simply beautiful for vocals (especially male vocals), acoustics, guitars, and even drums and drum overheads. But it seriously rocks on vocals.

The ADK Hamburg Mk8 Microphone features a fine-tuned response curve designed to replicate a vintage late 1950's german tube microphone. The Hamburg Mk8 offers a mellow robust tonality and favors "crooner" vocals or ballads, classical, folk, jazz singers and reeds. The ADK Hamburg Mk8 Microphone is very useful for vocals or sources needing a rounder tone. For strings, reeds, nasal or thin vocals, or vocals with sibilance issues, the Hamburg will work wonders! Hamburgs really do have that "smoothness" historically known in that classic German tone.

Looking for a shockmount for the Hamburg Mk8? We offer the ADK Super-Mount designed for a perfect fit.

    ADK Hamburg
    Rob Coates

The ADK Hamburg is a no nonsense mic that is a very refreshing contrast to many of the cheap LDCs out there that have a very hyped high end. To my ears the Hamburg is a little smoother on top. I believe it was voiced to sound similar to high end German tube mics (you know the one's I'm talking about). I actually think it's at least in the ball park.

    ADK Hamburg Mk8 order
    Dunn Logan

I had a very good experience with ordering the mic from your company. The sales person were very knowledgeable about the product. The best part is that this mic delivers and it is exactly what I expected of it. Prefect for my voice. I will recommend your store to all my friends also, thanks for your excellent customer service and advice on gears. Best wishes Dunn

Great mic at a great price!

I was looking for another 'color' for the mic locker as I already own Shure SM7B, Audio Technica 4033, CAD E100S and a vintage EV RE16. I am a sibilant singer so I was interested in the claims that this helps reduce sibilance, and I found that to be true after adjusting the mic position carefully. In other words, it's not a cure all for sibilant singers but it certainly helped reduce those harsh esses with proper placement. The mic sounds very nice through mic Golden Age preamp, definitely not warm or overly dark but with a hint of tube character. I've only used for vocals so far, though I bet it would be a fine choice for other things; that's the joy of a new mic, trying it out on different sources and finding what works.

I was having some sibilance issues with other mics. (My vocal range is baritone/tenor). The ADK Hamburg provided an effective and affordable solution. I'm in love with its smooth and balanced tone. So happy I discovered this one. Front End Audio provided first-rate customer service. Product was carefully packaged, and arrived in immaculate condition in just a few days. Thanks guys!! Highly recommended.

    Great Mic
    Steve C.

I recently picked up the ADK Hamburg because of a recommendation from a trusted friend. The mic sounds wonderful. It's a darker sounding condenser without out all of the extra exaggerated harsh top end that most mics in this price range have. Great vocal mic and great utility mic. This was my first ADK mic. My other mics I own include are Bock 195, Manley Cardioid, AEA R84... so I was skeptical to buy this mic but I am glad I did. It's a great extremely affordable mic. The build quality is what to be expected at this price range, but it's solid and comes with a very nice black wood box which was surprising. I plan on checking out ADKs custom shop now because of this entry level mic.

    Just Buy It!
    Mario G.

This mic is a great choice for recording vocals, but especially saxophones. I have several other low to mid-priced condensers. I could always get good vocal tracks. But, my sax parts never sounded warm & smooth on playback. I tried this, and...problem solved! It has a warm, smooth quality I couldn't get before. I usually don't even have to eq the track. The mic is quiet & (coupled with a decent preamp) will give you a smooth, warm sound you will love! This is not my most expensive mic, but it's now my favorite.
