The lightweight voice coil construction and rigid dome provide an extended high frequency performance. Sennheiser E609

Use the Sennheiser e609 often when recording guitar cabinets. Especially useful for louder chugga chugga metal or punk rock . Good alternative for sm57 and I find Myself using this mic more than the 57 and 421 . Overall good price , easy to use, and reliable.

    Well worth it
    Jonathan Malugin

I have used many different brands of mics to mic my guitar into the board, this one sounds better than all the rest, Well worth it. At the front of the house it really sounds like the guitar cab, others cant do that?

    Outstanding mic for electric guitar
    Silent Sky

I had used another mic for recording electric guitar for many years, but wanted a slightly different flavor, which I have found in the e609. This mic is great for distorted guitars (especially metal), but also does great on clean electric guitar as well. Its unique design allows you hang it from the top of the amp by the cable, or stand-mount it very closely to the amp without the mic or cable sticking out and getting in the way. My only complaint is that the included stand clip is almost too small for the mic and requires a bit of coersion to get the mic into it, but that is no big deal.

What We Think

The e609 Silver is a great microphone for use with guitar amplifiers and even percussion instruments (such as the bottom head of a snare drum). Though it's not as full bodied as it's big brother, the e906, the e609 is perfect for rhythm guitars that don't need to be as big in the mix. It's also good for taming very woofy cabinets or tones when you have a guitarist who won't roll back their bottom end; you know that guy! All in all it's a great way to get the element right up against the grille and isolate the guitar from that noisy drum kit right next to it.
