After talking with the great guys at FEA,and watching and reading their reviews,I bought two of these preamps,I wanted pre's that sounded great for drums and electric bass, but ones that also worked well for vocals, guitar, and other sources.I was blown away with the sound right away, these are truly the do-all preamps, they sound great on everything I've used them for, huge on drums! They've got great warmth and character, yet are extremely clear and articulate, they have great low end,and a depth not found in lesser pre's.Dan Kennedy at Great River knows quality and stands behind his work.If you're looking for pro analog warmth, and a pre that not only performs with everything run through it,but does so with amazing results, then I urge you to grab a couple of these beauties, you won't want or need anything else after you hear it!

I'd been hearing people gush about the Great River pres on various gear forums, so I finally took the leap and got a Lunchbox plus an MP-500NV. This is a fantastic pre. If you've been using stock pres on a board or recording interface you will immediately hear the difference. Mediocre mics will suddenly become usable again, and decent mics sound great. I'm going to get one more for stereo recording as soon as I've saved up.

These are really great every day pre-amps. They sound good on just about everything. If I had to nit-pick, they can make certain male vocalists sound a bit honky in the mids, but it's rare. People like these for a reason.
