The Avantone MONDO Kick Drum Microphone is the 2nd generation of the Avantone Drum Microphones and a great deal of R&D effort has culminated in this rugged, great sounding mic. Avantone believes that the The Avantone MONDO Kick Drum Microphone represents the very finest kick drum mic available. The MONDO offers a very aggressive frequency contour that sounds huge right out of the box, so most engineers will find little need for EQ. Each Avantone MONDO Kick Drum Mic is die cast from zinc, with a brass and steel grill assembly. As with all of Avantone's mics, there is no plastic to break! Aesthetically, the Avantone MONDO Dynamic Kick Drum Mic features an elegant Cabernet Wine-Red finish, accented with polished nickel trim and a black grill assembly. All components are designed and manufactured using the finest materials yielding a very solid feel, superb structural integrity and rugged reliability.
The Avantone MONDO Dynamic Kick Drum Mic features internal shockmounting on the capsule assembly to prevent the transmission of unwanted "rumble" from physical vibrations. A unique feature of the Avantone MONDO Dynamic Kick Drum Mic is pair of machined insets on the barrel of the microphone body. These insets allow the O-rings of the SSM shockmount to "lock" the Avantone MONDO Dynamic Kick Drum Mic into place, which prevents mic shifting and slippage. The included Avantone SSM Shock Mount is as rugged as you can find and allows for a superb decoupling of the Avantone MONDO Dynamic Kick Drum Mic from unwanted low-frequency transfer and rumble. This feature results in a much tighter, less muddy sound than other brands of drum mics. The O-rings are manufactured using a custom formula. The new world class Ethylene Propylene formula provides enormous resistance to breakage, resistance to surface nicks and remains supple and effective even against dry, hot temperatures. It is resistant to ozone and weathering, which makes it great for use around electronics devices, and maintains its physical properties even in a stretched condition. The Avantone SSM is constructed of heavy-duty die-cast zinc, which is not only incredibly durable but also adds mass, which contributes to vibration dampening/decoupling. The entire package is rounded out with a rugged custom-molded and padded case to safely store and transport your Avantone mic. The Avantone MONDO Kick Drum Mic, SSM Shock Mount, and included carrying case are each inspected, tested, and carefully packed in California.
