The Audix D6 Dynamic Microphone is used for stage, studio and broadcast applications. Designed with a cardioid pickup pattern for isolation and feedback control, the D6 drum microphone is equipped with a VLM diaphragm for natural, accurate sound reproduction.

The Audix D6 Dynamic Microphone is a lightweight, compact and easy to position, cardioid microphone, an excellent choice for miking instruments requiring extended low frequency reproduction such as kick drums, large toms and bass cabinets. The Audix D6's transformer less design, low impedance and balanced output allow for interference-free performance. The D6 Dynamic Microphone is designed, assembled, and tested by Audix in the USA.

    Thank goodness for the Audio D6. Why make the same EQ moves over and over when the mic can handle that for you from the get go? This thing scoops out that midrange and boosts that high end for you and voila, you have a great start to a modern kick sound without having to touch a thing. Definitely a one-trick-pony, but it does that trick phenomenally.

    They say it's thunderous, they say it's clean, they say it has top end, they say it's a great kick drum mic... they were right, it's all of those things! I've used a variety of "holy grail" kick mics (MD421, M88, RE-20, etc.), but to me, this one kicks (pun intended) ass!! Highly recommended

The Audix D6 is a 'pre-EQ'd' microphone that has a wide mid-scoop around 600Hz and peaks around 63Hz and 5kHz. So, the D6 is not a flat-response microphone in the least; it is a purpose-built microphone designed to be unique. It really brings out the slap of the beater of a kick drum while also really hitting you in the gut with the lows. It really is perfect for the modern kick drum sound and excells when bringing out the 'click' on a bass track. In fact, the D6 has become one of my favorite ways to capture bass tracks now. It really gets the clarity of each note much like a high quality DI while also injecting the right amount of air on the track to naturally soften the transients. We happen to like it a lot on a snare drum since overheads can often get the mids of the snare and just need some highs and attenuated lows to emphasize the snare's presence and attack. It can be a 'splatt-y' sound, but we quite like it!
