The Stedman Proscreen XL Popfilter is a professionally designed pop filter for vocal applications that eliminates pops and explosives far more effectively than fabric filters. The Proscreen XL is hands down the best, designed to last a lifetime!

The Stedman Proscreen XL allows unobstructed passage of high frequencies helping to maintain the important detail in vocal recordings. In addition to its sonic advantages, the Proscreen XL can be easily washed between sessions. Seriously think of the ick factor here! With the Proscreen XL in place, the recording signal levels can be maximized without the worry of clipping caused by bursts (extremely important with digital formats). There is a reason why the Stedman popfilters are the best in the business, they will last you a lifetime.

The Proscreen XL features a 6" diameter metal screen with a 13" flexible gooseneck.  The Proscreen is terminated with an adjustable clamp for easy adjustment and placement. The designs of the louvered openings allows the sound to pass through while diverting air and bursts in a downward direction away from the vocal track. Even close range intimate vocal tracks will not pass air bursts to the microphone. For optimal performance the Proscreen XL should be placed, with at a minimum of 2 inches, between the screen and the microphone. Make sure the vocalist must be on the Stedman branded side of the Proscreen XL to be effective.

Does what it says. Nice look & feel too. Built in USA, which is all the more reason to pay a little extra.

    use no other
    Mark Davies

This is the only pop filter I've used up to this point in time, that does what it says it should. Redirecting an air blast down & away from a mic capsule is so simple & logical, you wonder how music stores still sell those cheap screen filters. Easy to wash, virtually unbreakable & can't "wear out" over a long time period. It looks pricey at first, but our expensive mics have to be lasting so much longer when they aren't being directly subjected to pops & breath humidity. Worth every cent !!

    Great

This does everything I need it to do. Doesn't impact the sound, easy to clean, gooseneck allows it to be placed easily and securely. I have no need for any other popfilter.

    Great filter for decent price
    A. Simpson

I've used several different kinds of filters over the years, but I expect this one to be the last one I ever have to buy. Very sturdy and very effective, this filter attaches easily and does the job very well. Also, because it's entirely metal, it's cleanable, unlike material filters. A little bit pricier than the average filter, but I feel like what I'm paying for is never having to buy another one. Filters I've bought in the past had to be replaced either due to the attachment apparatus eventually breaking or the adjustable arm giving out. With this one, I'm done. Also, Front End Audio has the best price I could find anywhere for this filter. Pretty cool. Great service, too.

    They do the job!
    Eric Schreiber

We record audio dramas with a room full of actors. Plosives have been a common problem for us in the past, leading to hours of post-production editing to fix them. We bought four of these pop filters for our most recent sessions, and had no plosives at all in the recorded material - this will save me a huge amount of time, making these pop filters well worth the cost. The metal construction not only directs airflow down, away from the mic element, it's very sturdy, and washable. These are now a permanent feature in my studio!

What We Think

This really is one of those 'final-word' products. The Stedman Proscreen XL really is the most robust pop-filters we have ever used. Stedman's goosenecks are STOUT and don't start drooping when bent into precarious positions. All in all, we can pretty much recommend this pop-filter unreservedly.
