You will find PreSonus Studio One a serious alternative to the intimidating, bloated offerings currently considered the standards. It's a groundbreaking music creation and production application for Mac OS X and Windows XP/Vista/7 that makes audio recording, MIDI sequencing, and audio mastering ridiculously simple right out of the box.
Studio One changes the rules of the game with fresh code, innovative drag-and-drop MIDI mapping and plug-in management, auto-configuration with PreSonus hardware, insanely good audio quality, unlimited tracks and plug-ins per track, and a powerful, inventive Start page.
And although Studio One Pro hit the scene not too long ago, they've already added even still more pro chops with frequent updates. From tracking to mixing to mastering and distribution, it's the creative environment built for intuitive use, speed, and efficiency - and yet it's robust enough for the most complex productions.
For the committed, spends-days-locked-in-the-studio producer, Studio One Pro adds a serious mastering suite, 64-bit audio, VST and AU support, more 64-bit Native Effects plug-ins, and boatloads more third-party resources. You can buy Studio One Pro separately or upgrade to it from Studio One Artist.
"PreSonus' Studio One Pro software has become a favorite DAW around here. Why? Well, for one it is intuitive. If you have some working knowledge of the basic features and layout of a DAW, then you can typically sit down and 'feel' your way through. I basically was able to get up and running with minimal guidance from the manual. What I found was that many of the functions that have traditionally taken forever (such as importing audio) in other systems now are easily dragged and dropped into the edit window directly from the built-in and convenient browser. I can have playable audio with all the waveforms drawn across 24 tracks in under a minute (depending upon processor speed, of course) - this used to take over 20 minutes per song on the same computer in another high-end DAW. Studio One Pro comes with tons of effects and functionality built right into it. I love the routing and automation capabilities. I've used a lot of different DAW programs and though all of them have certain little things that are unique to them, I honestly find that I am not missing anything with Studio One. In fact, I find that the flexibility and intuitive feel allow me to work quickly and figure things out without having to 'consult the oracle', as it were. PreSonus did this really well and they are continuing to keep on making it better." Alan Moon - Front End Audio
