Lavry Engineering Blue MAD824 2-Channel AD Converter Module

Lavry Engineering Blue 2-Channel AD Converter

Lavry Engineering Blue MAD824 2-Channel AD Converter Module Details

The Lavry Engineering Blue MAD824 2-Channel AD Converter Module is a raw component of the Lavry Blue Series and is NOT a standalone unit on it's own. Though all of the individual components may "technically" be purchased separately, installation of the M∙AD824 module to a pre-existing Blue series chassis will at least require the presence of a single M∙SYNC module and will need to be factory installed (one billable hour of tech-work) and calibrated to the onboard M∙SYNC module.

Lavry Engineering Blue MAD824 2-Channel AD Converter Module

  • 2 channels of sonically transparent Lavry A-to-D conversion
  • Analog and Digital Saturation modes allow hotter recording levels
  • Digital level metering with â??clippingâ?ť indicators and peak hold
  • Reference mode for calibration to studio standard levels
  • SPDIF compatible AES/XLR digital output

Small differences add up to a big difference February 12, 2011

Converters may be a dime a dozen today (OK more like you could buy 8 or 16 channels of conversion for the price of 2 channels of Lavry), but I think a great converter is an essential component to great sounding digital audio. And the Lavry blue is a great sounding converter! I especially notice how well it handles difficult audio, like spikey transients from high-pitched percussion instruments and stringed instruments (e.g. the tiple). It also yeilds very clean , not muddy, audio when DI recording bass and baritone guitar. All in all, the Lavry is fairly expensive, but you get what you pay for!
