    Mixed feelings

So, Amp simulation software isn't quite there yet. NONE of it -- Peavey, Native Instruments, UA's Nigel, Waves, or Amplitube -- are able to make their software sound like a Mesa Boogie MKIV. To me, that's the test. I'll go a step lower and say that they can't even accurately emulate a JCM900. They still sound digital and the crunch is just a tad mushy. That said, I have tracked a song and used the Amplitube software as the only guitar tracks and IN THE MIX they are usable. So, on it's own it gets a 5 out of 10, and in the mix I give it a 7 out of 10. Worthwhile if you don't want to spend big bucks on an expensive amp and is certainly more convenient.
