What We Think
The CAD E100S is a truly fantastic multi-purpose microphone. Put one up when you don't have time to fiddle and putz around trying out a ton of different mics and you should get a sound that is at the very least better than just usable. The nice and smooth, yet lifted top-end adds a refined clarity to the recorded sound. So, you're not going to need to add highs with an EQ, but you're also not going to have to take them away since there is nothing harsh or overbearing with this mic. The super-cardioid pattern helps to reject potentially unwanted room noise and keeps the mic on point. It's a winner for acoustic guitar, electric guitar, drums, percussion, bass cabinets, and pretty much whatever you can throw at it - it wins. CAD has produced yet another fantastic microphone!

I've had mine for almost ten years, I love it. Clear and present, it's never been harsh. It's durable as I haven't had a problem with it in 10 years. I recommend this to beginners all the time because you can keep it and won't need to upgrade it.
I've owned one of these for a few years and found it very versatile, having used it for vocal and instrument recording. It provides good isolation for a singer standing near a piano if you can point the rear of the mic toward the instrument. Excellent, clear sound quality, fairly bright but easy to work with in recording production. Bought a second one and used them in front of a children's choir on short stands. The choir moved around into various configurations, yet these mics proved to be very forgiving since they are so sensitive.
I had done a lot of research on mid-level microphones, and wanted something that I could use out of the box without a mod. I settled on the CAD E100S, but needed a pair. Seemed out of reach price-wise, but FrontEnd Audio allowed me to get a pair and keep it in my budget. Great microphones at a great price.
Nice people, let me know the product was backordered. Said when it would arrive. Notified me when it did and sent promptly. Don't know how they sold the item for the price...it was much better deal than the other places.
