Apogee Duet Audio Interface
The Apogee Duet Audio Interface is a portable audio interface that builds on the success of the Duet 2 by adding compatibility with Windows 10 to Mac and iOS devices. For mac users, it provides a direct digital Lightning connection that allows for DC charging of the Apple device.
This interface is capable of making studio quality recordings of vocals, guitars, bass, keyboards, drums, and other sources. The unit's portability and option of being USB bus powered allows you to create music any time. The microphone preamps offer high-gain amplification for capturing performances clearly, and the outputs are capable of presenting detailed and well imaged sound for mixing and mastering.
The dual microphone preamps feature enhanced components and seamless, click-free transitions throughout the 75 dB of gain. The preamps are optimized for any sound source, so no matter what's being recorded, it gets captured in detail. The interface utilizes an ESS Sabre32 32-bit hyperstream DAC with circuitry to eliminate time domain jitter and provide ample dynamic range and low distortion conversion. A full color, high-resolution OLED display is the main control center for the Duet, providing visual feedback for multiple functions including metering, numeric value for input and output levels, input grouping, phase, muting, phantom power and Soft Limit indication. The display provides immediate status of the inputs and outputs without having to refer to Maestro or the host recording software.
Stereo headphones or left and right mono speaker outs can be assigned in pairs to output 1-2 or 3-4 or the low latency mixer, and each can be placed in stereo, mono, muted or dimmed modes. It is possible for a DJ to monitor a separate mix in headphones while sending a house mix to the club, a live performer to send a click track to in-ear monitors while sending a backing track to front-of-house, and a recording engineer to send a headphone mix to the performer while dedicating the main outputs to studio monitors.
For use with iOS devices, an optional Lightning or 30-pin cable may be purchased. The Duet ships with a USB cable for connecting to your Mac or PC.

This is an excellent portable USB interface. I have replaced mine with an Apollo Twin Duo because I wanted to run UA plug ins. The 2 units compare favorably with regard to AD/DA converter quality, and user friendliness. My only complaint is the cable attachment which is difficult to place in a studio setting.
Ever since I bought this interface all of my home made songs started to sound more profissional.
I used to have a fast track. This interface was more than a step up from it. It's pre amp makes a cheap microphone such as B2 PRO by Behringer sound amazing. I highly recommend it for those who are looking to better their productions without spending too much money.
The pres in the Duet II are nothing to sneeze at and do an excellent job in small home studio / mobile recording applications. Plenty of juice to power hungrier headphones as well. Unfortunately with only 2 available microphone inputs recording larger sessions becomes cumbersome.
Followed the Apogee recommended steps and updated the firmware on the unit and installed the Duet for iPad/Mac software (without a hitch).
Noticed that the right "User Assignable Touchpad" was very funky. You have to press very hard or several times to get it to work.
In addition, when using the "Multi-function Controller" knob to control input/output level, etc..., the purple led display is very choppy. In other words, as you're turning the knob (clockwise or counter clockwise), the purple led level display sometimes doesn't move fluidly, then it jumps to the level you're trying to set.
Needless to say, the unit was returned.
I've been an Apogee customer since the AD8000 in the 90's. Since then, I have purchased an Ensemble, Mini-Me, Mini-DAC, Duet 2 (went thru 3 of those before I found one that works properly), and now this new Duet for iPad/Mac. For me, everything was great with this company up until the Duet 2 but I feel it's gone downhill ever since.
Suggest other man upgrade it.
If you use a Mac Book to record your music then I would suggest upgrading your sound card by purchasing this Apogee Duet 2. This is an amazing difference to the sound quality and is compatible with just about any DAW you may think of.
Just magical! No delay, crystal clear sound, I use my duet 2 with RODE nt2a microphone, works fantastic! Thanks for fast shipping!
The best audio interface I've ever used. Had the original duet but this thing sounds more "pro" to my ears.
Great evolution over an already great sound card(Duet), Independent Headphone monitoring great for DJing! Break-out box very welcome addition!
