The Sennheiser e604P Dynamic Microphone is a compact cardioid instrument microphone pack that is compatible with toms, snares, and percussion. It clips-on quickly and easily wherever you choose. This is one of the best values to consider anywhere when outfitting your venue or band with great sounding drum mics!

The Sennheiser e604P Dynamic Microphone is specially designed to handle the high SPLs of drums, percussion, woodwind, and brass instruments without distortion. The frequency response and cardioid pick-up pattern are optimized for drum sets and other percussion instrument miking, while also producing exceptional results on all forms of brass and woodwind. An integral stand mount screws directly onto mic stands and included clip attaches mic to rim of drum. Very high sound pressure level handling, in excess of 160 dB, is combined with a balanced, clear, low distortion signal similar to a high-end studio condenser microphone. Lightweight voice coil provides extended high frequency and rapid transient response. A tough reinforced glass fiber body takes the knocks and shocks and suppresses impact noise.

    I found the 604's to be very open sounding, although slightly toppy and lacking slightly in low mids. The attack was smooth and natural, and the pattern was nice and tight. The included shell-mounts were easy to clip on and had a handy cable clip. One thing I am concerned about is the housing being made of plastic may not agree with most rock drummers. I've used the 604's for reggae and live hip hop and they seem to be quite nice for softer drummers. I'd reccomend them as a good stock tom mic. They may not go so far for recording, I'd stick with the 421's

The Sennheiser E604 is one of my favorites, and I regularly use it in my sessions. Though it is primarily designed as tom mic, I really like it on snare. And well this is a very surprising mic on guitar cab, it has a really smooth response to it, which I love. I personally think of this as the 421's little brother. It has a similar sound, but a little less bottom end. Great for snare, mounted toms, and guitar cab. You might as well grab a three pack, you'll want like them that much.
