The Miktek CV4 Tube Microphone is a hand-built large diaphragm condenser with an original NOS Telefunken EF800 tube, and nine selectable pick-up patterns! It delivers a truly large sound and produces a musical response that will please artists, producers and most seasoned engineers alike.

The Miktek CV4 Tube Microphone offers a big, warm and tight bottom end with mids that are present and even, along with a high frequency response that's sweet and airy. The Miktek CV4 Tube Microphone is ideal for recording single vocalists, and perfect for acoustic instruments, groups of vocals, piano, string ensembles, winds, overheads on a drum kit or as ambient room mics.

The Miktek CV4 Tube Microphone utilizes the MK9 capsule developed by Miktek. This unique capsule features dual 1-inch diaphragms manufactured using 5-micron Mylar with a 0.4-micron layer of evaporated gold, which is precisely tensioned, mounted to carefully-tuned backplates, and set back-to-back to create the final capsule. Tight tolerances and special attention to precise machining of the backplate produce a linear off-axis response that ensures the accuracy of the microphone.

The Miktek CV4 is hand-built using components from the US, Europe and Asia, and is tested and packaged in Nashville, Tennessee, USA. Each microphone includes its serialized frequency response graph created during final testing.

Together with an original NOS (new-old-stock) Telefunken EF800 tube, in which the high-voltage circuit has been uniquely implemented, the microphone challenges the performance of the best-in-class industry standards without hesitation.

Following the head amplifier, the heart and soul of the Miktek CV4's is the massive AMI BT4 output transformer, which offers a classic sound and an extended low frequency response found in the earliest versions of the most famous vintage tube microphones.

    Simply all-around
    Surin Song

I've used CV4 for years, and this animal is simply all-around for not only vocal but many other instruments such as acoustic guitar, percussions, strings, etc. It sounds tubey but pristine at the same time and fits very well to modern sound. It also has 9 polar patterns in total and could be used for versatile purposes.

    Nice Tube Sound.
    Nicholas Homa

This is a pretty cool mic. For the money I would say this is one of the best options on the market. It have a wide big sound that just sounds professional. It sits well in the mix, with little eq needed. It has only one flaw and it is the high end which can be sibilant, and unflattering on some female singers. As for lower singers, the tubeyness is thick and lush, almost makes me think of a u67. I just wish Miktek would have spent a little more time mastering the high end of this mic. It was so close to being an all around perfect vocal mic.

    Incredible
    Marko

Way back in the day, after listening to LPs for my entire life, I heard my first CD played on an amazing stereo system. There was no needle drop, no crackle. Suddenly the music just came out of nowhere. It was nothing but "pure" music. It blew my mind and gave me goosebumps. My first listen to the Miktek CV4 did the same thing! The sound was so pure, so real that it literally gave me goosebumps! This mic is an incredible value. Huge, real sound at a bargain price.

Amazing mic! Even better customer service!!`
    Josh Coyoy

So, I bought this mic, heard forums with samples of it and fell in love with it. I PERSONALLY chose it over the tlm 49. I think it should be priced at about 2g + in my opinion. Its so silcky at the high end, and clear with the lows! The part that makes it a MUST BUY was the fact that I had a client who dropped it and the grille cracked and it then the mic had a fuzz in it due to the drop, which was on on wood. ( so it wasnt an short fall, or cheaply made, this guy was about 6'2") I emailed MIKTEK and they said they would fix it for me FREE OF CHARGE. THIS MADE MY DAY! No other mic company would do this for accidental damages. MIKTEK IS LEGIT! And I will forever have this mic and have no problem recomending it to others. BTW, the look of the mic is $$ and the build..very sturdy! a must buy! and forget about neumanns even 2ce its price range.. this it the mic you want!!

    Awesome
    Anonymous

I've had this for over a year now and have used it on upright bass, cello, kick drum, kalimba, vocals, and all kinds of acoustic guitars (steel, nylon string, etc.) I do find it to be a bit brighter than reality sometimes, but not in that brittle way that most cheap condensers seem to pierce your ears with. This is more of a smooth hi-fi bright - hard to describe, but it sounds good on a lot of things. When needed I just roll off a db or so from 5k up and that's about all it takes - and sometimes flat is great. Also works really really well in conjunction with a ribbon (I use a Royer 121.) For sibilant vocalists I just put the mic in a little lower position, more down toward the chest - works wonders. Overall this mic has been awesome and sounds so much fatter, cleaner, crisper-in-a-silky-way than any other mic I've come across. Far prefer it to a U87. Get it in the right position and there isn't much this mic can sound bad on I don't think. That's my 2 cents!

    Fantastic Voice-Over microphone
    leecvo

I had been on a search for a great voice-over microphone for several months to complement my industry-standard U87 and Senn 416. I tried several different mics ranging from $1000 to $5000 including well-known brands, but none had that "sound" I was looking for. My Front End Audio rep suggested I take a listen to the CV4. After plugging it in, it took me about 10 seconds to realize that I was hearing one of the best microphone bargains ever. This mic just sounds so nice on voice-over. I took it to a commercial studio to verify what I was hearing. The engineer there listened to it and said, "If I had 1400 bucks right now, I'd snap that baby up in a heartbeat!" Try it, you won't be disappointed.
