    Built like a tank? Yup.
    Robert Merriman

Years ago the studio I put together was centered around a Mackie 1604 mixer. Mounted in a rack with rolling casters, that mixer was convenient and worked great. - Much of the equipment was sold off when I dismantled the studio, including the 1604. At that time Mackie had just released the original 1402-VLZ Pro. I picked that up to accommodate my more modest mixing requirements. Through the years it's served me well with nary a bit of trouble, despite the shortage of additional channels and busses. - Today, that little beast sits at the heart of my new, all analog studio/performance rig. The sound is clean and quiet; the pots and faders are dead silent. - The current model seems to be made in China, not in the USA as mine was. Can't speak to any Quality Control issues this creates. I'm pretty sure the sound is at least as good as what I get from mine.
