The Blue Microphones Kiwi Multi-Pattern Microphone is the Blue's flagship multi-pattern FET microphone, and defines the pinnacle of modern vocal and instrument recording. Born from Blue's legacy of inimitable design and innovation, the Blue Microphones Kiwi delivers a world-class vocal sound to inspire once-in-a-lifetime performances. Nine selectable polar patterns provide unlimited creative freedom for any recording session. And the sound—shimmery, elegant top end with articulate midrange and full-bodied low end—has Blue Microphones Kiwi winning out against the most revered vintage mics when it comes to capturing world-class vocal tracks.

Full-Spectrum Performance

Precision engineered, hand-built, and beautifully crafted, the Blue Microphones Kiwi delivers unmatched results for every recording session. The Blue Microphones Kiwi combines the low noise and superb transient response of our proprietary FET circuitry with smooth midrange, and crisp, airy high end that flatters vocals, guitars, piano and other lead instruments. The result is full and articulate sound that sits forward in the mix, but is silky rather than aggressive. The Blue Microphones Kiwi even captures the difficult resonance of female vocals in vibrant detail.

9 Polar Patterns

With nine distinct polar patterns to choose from, the Blue Microphones Kiwi's tone can be adapted to any recording environment and application. Capture the ultimate “big” vocal performance. Record multiple vocalists at once. Experiment with unconventional vocal treatments, or capture a present vocal and room sound simultaneously. Each pattern allows you to fine-tune the timbre and directionality of the Blue Microphones Kiwi for endless creative options. Just toggle between Cardioid, Omni, Figure of 8, and everything in between to find which pattern best suits your application.

Handpicked Components

The Blue Microphones Kiwi is designed and hand-built in the USA for a lifetime of use. Blue;s acclaimed B6 Bottle Cap capsule and twin acoustically matched single backplate large diaphragm capsules deliver unmatched sonic character and frequency response across all polar patterns. The transformerless operation and discrete circuitry guarantees that nothing can compromise the fidelity of the signal path, so you get the purest sound possible during every recording session.

    Great mic

I got this mic to contribute towards my journey towards finding the perfect mic for my voice (male, baritone). I recently tried out the Mojave 210 which was gorgeous and buttery but just too spitty in the high end, I also got a TLM49, and have had a AT4033 for quite a while as my go to vocal mic. The Kiwi sounds fantastic and is one of the best of the bunch, particularly when paired with the Blue Robbie mic preamp. Overall, however, simply because of the extended high end it wasn't the most suited for my voice. It's not as extended as the Mojave or the AT4033, so don't let this dissuade you, it was just that I need a relatively dark mic for my voice and have thus settled on the TLM49 or a Sennheiser 441. You, however, most likely can't go wrong with the Kiwi and I would have had no problem keeping and using it if I didn't have other slightly more suitable options.

This is a good mic. I tested it out for a month with an AKG 3000c (a 500$ mic) they both sound good but the AKG was a bit harsh on the high end part. I bought this as a B-Stock for about 1300 bucks vrs the origonal for 2000 bucks. for the money its a bit pricey for the quality differance, but if your realy realy good at mixing and tweakin sounds then a mic for under a G is suitible. But over all the blue kiwi is a good mic dont get me wrong it sounds great with no FX of EQ's. I think if i were to save a bit more cash i would have gotten the neuman u87i...
