The AKG P420 Microphone is a high-performance dual-capsule true condenser microphone designed for demanding project studio recording applications.

The AKG P420 Microphone offers high sensitivity and 155dB maximum SPL. It delivers a warm, transparent sound quality perfectly suited for ensemble recording, grand piano, woodwind and brass instruments, as well as drums and percussion. With three selectable polar patterns – cardioid, omnidirectional or figure 8 – the AKG P420 is an ideal tool for stereo miking techniques and ambient recording.

    $200 for a multi pattern Great Sounding Mic

    The title says it all. This is a really good sounding mic for vocals and stringed instruments among other things. No hyped high end. Very smooth across the frequency spectrum. Great way to get a great sounding multi pattern mic for very little dough. Recently used it for the lead vocals on a bluegrass album. Tried several mics and settled on the AKG P420 for all the lead vocals.

    Awesome mic with multiple cardioid options

    I bought this mic to create a pair of overhead drum mics with the AKG P220. It is essentially the same mic as the P220 with the addition of having multiple cardioid pattens. Rather than having 2 of the exact mic, i have one that can either match the P220 or be set to figure-8 or omni directional patterns. The mic sounds fantastic and the price is a real deal.
