    Excellent sound
    Emanuel Kohli

The K702 headphones sound excellent. Low frequencies ar there but not dominant, high frequencies are smooth. I would describe the sound as open and very three-dimensional. If you really need to hear whats going on in your mix, the K702 will be the right choice for you.

    Ahh, AKG
    Nick

As a long time user of AKG cans (K240's & 171MkII's), I finally wanted to get an open-back pair for late-night mixing duties and general listening when my main system wasn't on. All I can say is... they're fantastic! Such an open (pun intended) sound... almost like listening to my studio monitors. Also being AKG's, they're very comfortable because of the self-adjusting headband. Another important feature is that the ear "muffs" are not made of that faux-leatherette stuff that other manufacturers use (even a very expensive pair of Sennheisers I owned had muffs that eventually perished, leaving black "junk" all over my ears!). AKG's don't suffer from this! Highly recommended

Best reference headphones for the price
    Nathan Rabiroff

I've used the K240s as well as well as Sennheiser HD280s for tracking for a long time and finally did my search for some nice open back reference headphones for mixing on the spot when monitors were not available. Keep in mind these headphones take approx 300 hours to "burn in" before their mid range really starts to sound great and they usually have to be driven by a decent power source (they sound ok through an ipod, but really sound better through a decent headphone amp or mixer output). They also have a lot of bleed because they are open back. These are designed for listening and mixing, not for tracking. For their purpose they are great!

    I love these headphones..
    Jeremy Cuddington

I use the AKG K240's for tracking in my home studio so I love the "AKG sound".. I wanted a high quality set of phones for general listening and for reference when mixing. I tried a whole stack of headphones like the Senn HD600's before settling on these. The AKG K702's just did it for me.. Much more open with detail in the highs that is unmatched. It does take a good quality headphone amp with a fair amount of grunt to drive these. I don't suspect they would work too well with Ipods. I love the creamy soft ear pads that are so darned comfy it is easy to forget you're wearing headphones.

    Crazy!
    Andrew DeNunzio

Listened to a pair and can say they are extremely responsive and clear sounding. The great thing about these headphones are the fact that they don't bother you at all when listening for long periods of time. The only downside i found is the fact that the bleed is ridiculous.
